George Washington Carver School ; Address ; Opened in the spring of 1948, it served the Baytown area including La Porte. When the district integrated in the late 1960s, the school became Carver-Jones Elementary. Years later the name George Washington Carver was restored. The school closed in 1997 because the grounds were contaminated with oil.
