C. S. Stone, the first man hired to work at Humble in 1917, leads a team of oxen carrying heavy equipment. This is a view of the road between "Middletown" and "newtown" in 1917. The Middletown settlement started around what is now Lee Drive and Main Street and was later to become the city of Pelly. "Newtown" started around what is now Commerce and Texas Avenue and was later to become the city of Goose Creek. "Oldtown" was that area around Goose Creek later to become Baytown. (Photo by F. G. Allen). (Exxon microfilm #30)
