- Information
Company houses under construction on West Humble Street in Goose Creek on June 26, 1923. Houses were built under the leadership of Ross S. Sterling, first president of Humble, primarily for production department employees. Fee titles were held by the refinery until about 1930, when the homes were sold to employees. Some houses were used temporarily by refinery employees until company houses in the refinery housing area could be completed and made available. Homer C. Wilson lived a short time in the house on the right with the gate open, until he could move into the refinery housing area. There were several blocks of these houses, some located on West Sterling.
