This bridge is a rare example of a through riveted vertical lift Warren truss span with towers and approach spans. The bridge was significant under National Register of Historic Places Criterion C for Engineering. It was constructed in 1912 by the Virginia Bridge & Iron Company to span the St. Francis River in Arkansas. In 1967, the structure was floated down the St. Francis River to the Mississippi River and through the Gulf of Mexico to be installed over Cedar Bayou for the U.S. Steel Industrial Lead. The bridge was removed in 2019. Many local residents recall jumping from this bridge during their youth.
