First elevated tank water supply system in Goose Creek; When R.S. Sterling began to develop the Pruett Addition to the original Town Site of Goose Creek in 1917, construction began on a water and sewer system for the area. When the citizens of this area, known as New Town voted to become the incorporated city of Goose Creek on January 28, 1919, the new water system had just been completed. Photo shows the elevated tank and pump house, which was the west side of Main Street, between Pearce and Gulf, adjacent to the old City Hall. The original pump and well house still stand at this site. Back of photo reads: Early water tank and pump house at South Main and Pearce, 1920s.
