The highlight of the Billion Gallon Day celebration came on December 14 when the symbolic billionth gallon was bottled and preserved for posterity. Left to right is Rear Admiral William W. Smith, Bruce K. Brown, representing the Petroleum Administration for War, Harry C. Wise, president of the Humble Company and Major General Hubert R. Harmon.
